An illustrated publication design on the sacred plants in Indian mythology.
India is a diverse country with a beautiful history, a huge portion of which is intertwined with plants. Unfortunately, these stories have not entirely passed down to the current generation.

Plants hold a significant place in Indian history, intertwined with magical beliefs that have given rise to mythological stories. However, with the increasing influence of Westernization in India, the younger generation seems disconnected from these tales, unaware of this aspect of Indian culture.
Challenge

There's a reason Vetal, from Vikram and Vetal, hangs on a Banyan tree. There are several other tales, emphasising on the spookiness of the tree in India - and with interesting mythology to back it up.
I spread knowledge about these stories through an in-depth research on the plants and how they intertwine with the country's past, superstitions and ceremonies.

Key Learning
This project was highly educational, providing valuable insights into the rich tapestry of mythological stories of India.
I had to keep in mind that illustrating it efficiently, considering the jewellery and fabric of that time period, was important.
